In my last post, I briefly discussed building an audience in social media using the online platform of the web to our advantage. Within those points I mentioned, the first was “Be specific in your marketing efforts.” This can make all the difference in the world.

When starting up a business, there are so many factors to consider, but the most important will be “How do I make money?” People don’t start up businesses to lose money and work hard with no compensation. Everyone who starts a business does so either because they want to do something they love and make money doing it, or they found a need they can fill and make money filling it.

Either way…it’s to make money. How do you make money?

With over 20,000 companies generating over $95 billion, the entertainment industry is thriving. Even in a time when the economy is suffering, as in the Great Depression, it is the time when individuals seek entertainment to take their minds off of reality. 
 
In order for the entertainment industry to be the creative, driving force it is, it requires the talent and skills of hundreds and thousands of people. From directors and actors, writers and artists, to gaffers and editors, sound engineers and coordinators, there is a wide array of positions that are filled in each craft.

Event planning in the entertainment industry can cover anything from concerts, private galas, VIP parties, award presentations and after parties. Throughout the years, event planning in the entertainment industry has moved towards depending largely on technology.

It is now commonplace to find technology integrated in event planning through:
·      Lighting and digital lighting boards for moving lights
·      Sound (digital boards have overtaken analog)
·      Digital photography
·      Concept and design for event (created digitally)
·      Planning software
·      Online ticket sales

A Day in the Life of Social Media....

Social Media is taking over our lives and society...by choice. We wonder what we did 10 years ago without it. You can't leave your home without your cell phone or all is lost.

We've become so dependent on technology and "staying connected" that we don't know what it is to not have access to Internet for over a day...I'll tell you what it's called: VACATION.

One major point in this next video triggers many of my future blog posts:

Influence of Social media

Let me begin by saying that everyday we are influenced in some way, shape or form by this multi-billion dollar industry called entertainment.

My generation has grown up in a time when media and entertainment advanced and changed at the speed of light! From the advancement of VHS, Laser Discs, DVDs, BluRay and even 3D, all the way to cassette tapes, CDs and MP3s, the entertainment industry has changed drastically and we've all seen it firsthand.
